Holiday Recipe: Mini Pies That Are Bound to Be a Big Hit
Caraway Ambassador, Shelby @shelbygoodman , shares the recipe for her signature holiday treat—brought to life in our Muffin Pan.

Holiday Mini Pies 1

It’s baking season! From parties to family time, the holidays are the perfect time to try out festive, seasonal recipes. Today, I’m sharing my signature holiday treat: mini pies that I bake right in my Caraway Muffin Pan

Reasons this recipe is always a hit:

  1. It’s quick and easy to make using just 3 main ingredients

  2. It can accommodate many different eating restrictions (make gluten free pie crust!)

  3. Everything is better in mini form

  4. It’s easy to customize per event themes with cut out toppings

  5. It’s decadent and delicious!

Plus, we all know when people go to the dessert table they want a little taste of everything so making mini pies versus a whole pie gives people that perfect portion!

Recipe Info

3 Ingredient Dark Chocolate Pie

Ingredients:

  • Store bought pack of 2 pie crusts

  • (or sub your favorite homemade pie crust recipe)

  • 1 10oz bag of dark chocolate chips

  • 1 C Whipping Cream (shelf stable or refrigerated)

  • Yields approx. 12-18 mini pies

Directions:

Roll out your pie crusts onto a smooth surface. Using a  biscuit cutter, cut circles to create your mini pie crusts. Thin out circles by hand or with a rolling pin to create crusts to fill each cup.

Holiday Mini Pies - Dough Cutting

Poke holes in each mini pie crust, then bake crusts according to package directions.

Use the second crust to make additional pies or topping decorations. Bake cut-out pie decorations for approximately 5 minutes, or until slightly golden.

Holiday Mini Pies - Shapes

While the crust is baking, combine dark chocolate chips with whipping cream over low heat until smooth. Shelf stable whipping cream is preferred for a glossier outcome.

Holiday Mini Pies - Chocolate Filling 1

Once baked and cooled slightly, pour into mini pie crusts and let cool.

Once almost set, add topping decorations.

Best served with chocolate-loving friends.

I’ve only ever made this recipe using Caraway’s Muffin Pan, which is essential to making sure these mini pies pop out clean! Thanks to the naturally non-stick nature of the ceramic coating, cleanup is a breeze. Just rinse the pan and you’re on your way! Less time cleaning dishes, more time spent enjoying your favorite treats with your loved ones.

Conclusion

These mini pies are truly my favorite holiday treat to make! They make a great host gift (throw them on a cute seasonal platter that they can keep), potluck contribution (perfect dessert bar size), or family-time treat (double the recipe for this one). They store well in the fridge for 5-7 days and can easily be room temperature or enjoyed cold! Feel free to experiment with different fun toppings or whip cream clouds to make them your own.

Happy baking!
